My Sewing Style

by Heather on September 1, 2011

It’s not pretty. It’s something that I always feel like I could improve on. It can be an issue…..but it’s who I am and part of my style.

I’m not a neat and clean sewist. At all.

This is normal:

I go to sewing retreats and there are other participants who must sew in a tiny space because they can contain their mess. I can’t. I’m a “spreader” meaning that I like to spread everything out. I can look at neat piles, organized fabric and admire it, but at the same time it makes me feel a bit weird. I like to immerse myself into the craft, into creating, into experiencing all of the fabric.

And in case you were wanting some kind of profound post today, I have to apologize to you. I’m clearing off my cutting table today. Kindly notice that I didn’t include any of the floor in the photo. Yeah, that was on purpose. At least I no longer have babies crawling on the floor. Yeah, that’s it. Or it could be that I am working out my legs by having stuff to step over on the floor. Another good excuse! It’s for my health! Yep, I’ll be very healthy after I sew my next project. LOL
