Fuel + Flame + Wind = ?

The Austin, TX area is extremely dry. Trees are dying everywhere. The drought has been labeled as “exceptional”, “the worst on record”. It’s also been hot, record breaking heat wave. Never ending heat and lack of rain. So bad that everyone is now hoping a nice tropical storm comes this way.

On Sunday, the worst thing happened…..at least 4 separate fires were sparked all around Austin. There was no loss of life or serious injuries there are reported fatalities, but the same cannot be said for property. The biggest fire is a bit east of Austin in a community with lots of farmland (read wide open dry spaces). The fire there started at 2pm on Sunday. By Monday, 476 homes had been destroyed and the fire was burning 25,000 acres and was 0% contained.

So many families have lost everything. Heather from  Modern Day Quilts contacted me about gathering quilts for all the kids who have lost everything. A quilt to show love, to keep them warm, to keep them comfortable, to have something of their own again.

So, send me a quilt. It doesn’t have to be your finest quilt or the fanciest and no one will check to make sure that all the seams are pressed the right direction or that the binding is hand stitched properly or that all the corners match. We just need quilts.

Recommended size is 45″ x 60″, but twin size are really appreciated.

Please send quilts to an awesome local quilt store: Valli & Kim Quilt Shop, attn: Wildfire Quilts, 700 West Highway 290, Dripping Springs, TX, 78620

If you have questions, please either email me (link over to the side —->) or Heather moderndayquilts@gmail.com

If you are in the Austin area, pick up is available.

Please feel free to re-blog, re-tweet, re-post.
