Countdown….

One short week from now, I will be on an airplane headed for….

 The Sewing Summit

I’m so excited, but I have so much to get done. I do my best work at the last minute. That’s code for being a procrastinator. Oh and I might do it to myself. (pssst….there is still time to sign up, through Sunday, I plan on having a blast, you should come!)
Plus, there has been a huge diversion…..
My oldest girl is in colorguard. She swings a flag because she can’t march with an Oboe. And guess what, they need, respect and love sewists. To make flags, to alter costumes. But there are a lot of flags. That picture above is a swing flag in my machine. So pretty, such thin, drapey, slippery fabric.
I also decided last week that I needed a new bag for sewing summit. :nodding head: And given how much I love (hate) Amy Butler patterns, I thought it would be a brilliant idea to make one….okay I really want to make two different bags. Issues, I know I have issues.
Then, look at this quilt. I found it in a book of vintage quilts. It’s a hexie quilt!! I’ve been resisting the hexie movement. Well, no longer. I want that quilt. Or actually I don’t want *that* quilt. The colors are not doing it for me. And it has no back. And its vintage meaning that its out of my price range. I might finish it before I die.
And have you seen We Love French Knots? As if I needed something else to do. But Bari J, the owner, seems so nice and she answered all my stupid questions very nicely. So I decided to try hand embroidery. It’s like knitting, I can do it without power, meaning I can do it while helping with homework or watching tv with DH. And I definitely needed something else to do.
Aren’t these pretty! I love them. So fall-ish. They look cool and refreshing, don’t they? I keep telling myself that. It’s as close to fall as I get around these parts. I say this as Austin prepares for it’s 90th day over 100 degrees this year. Oh wait, there’s a cold front coming! It’s only supposed to be 94 tomorrow. Yee-Haw.
