Cleaning the Sewing Studio

by Heather on March 13, 2012

Everything in my life has a story. This one starts with needing a headshot. Ugh. I’m not a photo person. But I do know someone in the Austin MQG that is a professional and I know she does headshots. So, I messaged her. And she asks, “How does your sewing studio look?” Uhhhhh, ummmm, like a bomb went off. A big huge bomb.

I start with re-arranging. Then I notice that my tables from IKEA are bowing in the center and I wanted to put my accuquilt studio up on one. And that thing is heavy. So I decide that I never liked those tables anyways and needed something new. Something that really went more with my cutting island, which I LOVE! Oh and I have been pinning things with chalk paint and this sounded like the PERFECT opportunity to combine the two. (Just nod along here, it’s really the only option, ask my husband)

Here is my new sewing area, with a double size design wall. :)

Isn’t my thread so pretty here?!? Oh and yes, that is my swap pin cushion.  I had to make one for myself too. And the one I got is right there too.

I hung my Ombre quilt behind the cutting table. I love that quilt. Sorry to anyone who has been coveting the quilt, it’s staying with me. Besides, it’s Kate Spain fabric. Umm, Kate Spain groupie here, duh, quilt is mine, all mine.

The “cocktail corner” got cleaned up a bit. I love the storage ottomans, but they really didn’t work in the room. :( So they are now stacked in the corner. :( :( Yes, my husband makes wonderful drinks and when I have sewing friends over, he often makes us all martinis. I’m keeping my husband too, he is really wonderful to me.

Ironing board. I finally found the perfect hanging place for my post sewing summit swap item. I love it! It might even be the background on my iPhone.

There are no pictures of my fabric closet. It was not part of the headshot photo shoot, so its a tad messy yet. I can show you my fq dresser and one of the wonderful drawers. Love fabric. I had so much fun taking that picture! I sat staring at it on my computer as I edited pictures. I love, love, love my fabric!!
