Savanna Bop

by Heather on May 21, 2012

Recently a very generous fabric designer sent me some FQs to play with. The line was Savanna Bop and the designer is Thomas Knauer Link to his blog

I thought I knew what I was going to do with the fabric, but the more I got into the project, the more I hated it. So I went with another direction, one that I LOVED. The solid orange fabric is actually Tangerine. And since Tangerine Tango is the color of the year, I feel this is a very contemporary take on the quilt. I really love how the fabric is childish, without being babyish and can be completely gender neutral. And there are these adorable giraffes that remind me of a pull toy I had as a child.

This quilt is approximately 50″ square, the perfect size for an afternoon in the park kind of baby blanket. I pieced a few of the FQs into the back. I love that print the most and couldn’t imagine cutting into it. I think those would make awesome quilt backings!

Here is Savanna Bop…..

And I’m going to squeak this in under the wire to Amy’s Blogger’s Quilt Festival, please follow the clickable link below to see all the other fabulous entries!
