This Summer, I…….

MOVED! Several hundred miles away.

And no….not for a job.

And no…..not because we had to.

And no…..not to be closer to family…….

I’m not sure I should share the story because written in-between the lines is a bit of insanity. It makes sense after telling the whole story, which is way to long to recount here. Sometime, if you want the gory details, sit down with me and a glass of wine and I’ll explain it.

Basically, it all started a year ago when I met an amazing friend at Sewing Summit. We got along really well. She was my secret swap partner and when I got my package I knew we were soul mates, I laughed and laughed, even my family got the joke:

She invited me for a visit, but tickets from Austin to Atlanta were expensive. I could fly to Portland for less money. Then my middle daughter’s girl scout troop planned a visit to Savannah, GA to do the whole girl scout thing there (its the GS birthplace). On the way back, we changed planes in Atlanta. So we made plans to just get off the plane and visit my friend.

This is where it gets a bit weird…….

She picked us up at the airport and drove for a while to her home. Pulling into her neighborhood I was entranced. Big trees. Green grass. Mountains. Happy cows munching on grass in green fields. Water in ponds and lakes. It was very similar to Oregon. But they had color guard (important for my 15yr old).

My husband swears he knew when I called him that night. He said he could hear it in my voice. Relaxed and happy and just smiling. He then kind of hints that I said something ridiculous like, “Honey we are moving to……oh I mean…..would you like to move?” Totally crazy. But kind of true. Our lease on the house in Austin was up and the owner was suggesting he wanted to sell the house. My husband now works from home a lot and we didn’t have a home office. I asked him if he would be offended if I looked at a house for lease near my friend. He said no. My middle daughter fell in love with the house, and immediately started packing when we got back to Austin.

In all fairness, we did plan a weekend visit and he said we could try it out since I had agreed to try out Austin.

So……less than 2 months later, here we are, in the Atlanta area!

Now to finish unpacking the sewing studio……ugh….who bought all this fabric?!?! (just kidding)
