And why did we let the youngest join

I was thinking a few days ago how wonderful it is that my children are getting older.  We can all play games together.  The youngest is a fantastic reader and has an amazing vocabulary.  We started with Apples to Apples.  Great game, I highly recommend it.  We play the Junior version at home, I can’t explain things like Moby Dick and Marilyn Monroe to the kids yet, they will learn about those things in due time.  The adult version is great fun with a large or small group of women, great food and a teensy bit of alcohol….or so I’ve heard.  <wink, wink>

I found this game, In A Pickle, at the local toy store.  I had played it once and thought it sounded fun.  Yes, it does say ages 10+ and Alex is only 7, but she likes a challenge.  Oh wow.  Oh my.  What a mistake.  Her logic is simple and yet out of the box.  For instance….during the elimination round, there was “China” as the biggest.  She put down “will” and everyone looked at her sideways.  Then she explained that the people of China could have the will to do something and they could join with another country, “like Japan” and both have the same will to do something and then China would be smaller than will.

Hmmmmm.  Kind of makes scary sense.  Is the will of a people bigger than the country?  More importantly, where did a 7 year old come up with this?  I couldn’t think of anything to argue against it honestly.  I was thinking that will was the document that people leave when they die, but will can also mean other things.

The first round.  Alex won, the rest of the family did not have a chance.  This feeling comes often with her.  She wins, the rest of us don’t have a chance.  None at all.
