Camp 2011 “Sleepover Makeover” Projects

by Heather on April 28, 2011

For those who need new stylish stuff for their next overnight! This class assumes that you can perform basic operations on a sewing machine or have taken “Its My Room”

First up is the most unique pillowcase that you will ever own! There will be no mixing up your pillow with anyone else at the sleepover. And the handy attached strap allows you to slip it over your wrist as you carry the rest of your gear. Or have your parent slip it over their wrist for you. This pillowcase will highlight french seams, pressing and inserting fabric as accents and creating handles and straps.

No one really wants to bring their toothbrush and hair brush with them, but it’s really the best idea. At least now your personal stuff will look cool in this zippered bag. This bag is fully lined! In this project, tackling zippers and linings will be featured, as well as topstitching.

There are always other things to bring with you too. Snacks, pjs, favorite stuffed animal. They will all fit nicely in this drawstring backpack tote bag. And it can even coordinate with everything else in this collection! It’s all up to you and your fabric choices. This bag is lined and the skills of installing grommets, using interfacing for re-enforcement and creating drawstring casings will be learned.

Finally, no one wants to appear in old PJs, right? What about a new pair of shorts (or pants, if you prefer). PJ bottoms are a fantastic beginner garment item. With this project, we will cover garment construction including measuring yourself, selecting a pattern, pattern markings, hemming, and elastic waist creation.
